"How to design a light..."

If you have entered the competition and now you are wondering just how to design that light that you are going to enter into the competition...then get a copy of this fantastic book, "How to Design a Light" by the Design Museum.
I had a quick read through the book this week end, and it really does highlight what is important to consider in designing a light and also gives loads of insight into the little-understood profession of lighting design. It includes an in-depth interview with Arnold Chan - the guy responsible for lighting the buildings of David Chipperfield, Johan Pawson, Zaha Hadid, Richard Rogers, Philippe Starck & Jean Nouvel!
Definately worth a read!

"Light is profoundly celebratory. From the candles on a birthday cake to the fireworks display, the decorative traditions of Christmas, Hanukkah & Divali, light plays a central role in festivities around the world. On such occasions, it is the ability of light to create a spectacle that stirs emotion & taps into the collective unconscious."   - How to Design a Light, pg 32
